Dickens of a Christmas

Head across the Market Square Pedestrian Bridge and be a part of the memories at one of the Roanoke Valley's premiere holiday celebrations; The Roanoke Times Dickens of a Christmas! Celebrating it's 34th anniversary, Dickens occurs on the first three Fridays in December.

This year's schedule is:

Friday, December 1 from 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Saturday, December 9 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Friday, December 15 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Afterwards, join us back at the hotel for cider and hot chocolate, while enjoying the sight, scents and sounds of the season, complete with performances.

Spectacular Saturdays at The Taubman Museum of Art

Spectacular Saturdays take place every Saturday from 10:00am - 5:00pm in Art Venture, the Taubman Museum's interactive gallery. Art Venture is an innovative exploratory gallery for youth and families. Visitors to Art Venture can paint, draw, build, connect music with art, investigate 3D printing and printmaking, create sculptures, display artwork, and much more. This interactive hands-on learning environment includes continuously changing programming that engages children ages 12 months to 17 years and connects to our exhibitions and permanent collections.

The Nutcracker

ALONZO AMOS STAGG BOWL

The NCAA Div III Championship Football Game, the Alonzo Amos Stagg Bowl, returns for the final time to the Salem Stadium on December 15, 2017. Date to be finalized closer to actual event date. Tickets, when available, can be purchased at the Salem Civic Center Box Office and at Ticketmaster.com. No umbrellas, please.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

The worst kids in the world have just found out that there are free snacks at Sunday school. AND they insist on playing all of the good parts in the annual Christmas pageant. They’ve never heard the Christmas story, and have no idea who Mary, Joseph or the wise men are. Will the pageant be canceled? Will the other kids even show up to participate? Will this be the worst pageant ever? Full of hijinks, laughs and plenty of holiday cheer, this brand new musical comedy makes its Virginia premiere at Roanoke Children’s Theatre just in time for the holidays.
