HOTEL ROANOKE & CONFERENCE CENTER TO OFFER
NEW SERIES OF COOKING CLASSES

Hotel Chefs to Teach Barbecue, Bistro, Italian and Holiday Specialties

ROANOKE, Va. - (April 5, 2006) - The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center will offer six monthly cooking classes on Sundays beginning April 23. Award-winning chefs Billie Raper and Mark Worsley will instruct budding culinary experts on the secrets of preparing delicious food - ranging from spring vegetables to barbecue and holiday entertaining.
The first class on April 23 will celebrate the arrival of spring. Participants will explore herbs and fresh vegetables and focus on simple preparation.
The other classes this year:
May 21 - The annual grill class will focus on summer favorites, seafood and wild game. Class participants will prep, cook and eat a grand summer buffet.
June 18 - This class focuses on bistro cooking. Participants will create classic French dishes with casual flair and discover how wines flavor food and the secrets to slow braising.
July 23 - Create barbecue masterpieces - with dry rubs, mops and smoking techniques. Beef, chicken and pork are on the menu, as well as seafood.
August 20 - Savor the flavors of Italian food. Class participants will cook traditional Italian fare and create a meal to satisfy all the senses. Bring a friend, because Italian food is meant to be shared.
September 17 - Get creative with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Tips for holiday entertaining will be shared with participants.
Classes meet on these Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. Cost is $75 person and must be secured with a credit card. A $30 cancellation fee will apply to reservations cancelled within three days before the class.
A minimum of eight people will be required to hold each class.
