HOTEL ROANOKE & CONFERENCE CENTER HOSTS
FESTIVE 'EASTER BONNETS ON PARADE PROMENADE'
Annual show one of many ways to celebrate the season
ROANOKE, Va. - (March 30, 2006) - The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center is the place for fun, food and family time this Easter season.
To get into the spirit of the spring, the area's leading professional designers are competing for top prizes at the annual "Easter Bonnets on Parade Promenade" contest.
Designers used creative and non-perishable items to create extraordinary Easter bonnets on display in the lobby, the Palm Court and Peacock Alley inside the Hotel. Votes for favorite entries are accepted at the Regency Floral Gift Shop on the first floor of the Hotel. Winners will be announced before Easter.
Entries include bonnets from: Florabella, Perrywinkle Toys, Little Clay Pot in Covington, Elements Home Furnishings, Candy Bouquet, Mostly Sofas, Floral Renditions, Grand Home Furnishings-Tanglewood, Roanoke Floral Gallery, Creative Occasions, Gift Niche and Pedal Pushers.
The winning bonnet will be displayed at the main centerpiece in the Crystal Ballroom for the Grand Easter Buffet on Sunday, April 16. The sumptuous brunch, suited for any appetite and taste, begins at 11:30 a.m. and is available through the last seating at 2:30 p.m. The cost: $34.95 for adults, $17.95 for children and free for those under 3.
The elegant Regency Room also serves Easter brunch from 11:30 a.m. through 7 p.m. Reservations for both venues are available by calling (540) 985-5900.
"With warmer temperatures and sunshine, families will enjoy their visit to admire these beautiful and elaborate bonnets and spend some quality time together with a special meal," said Gary Walton, general manager of the hotel. "It's a wonderful way to welcome spring and sample all the special occasions that the Hotel Roanoke offers over the Easter holiday."
On Sundays other than Easter, the newly renovated Pine Room features the Blue Jeans Brunch ($14.95), a more casual offering from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To help make visits last longer, the hotel is offering Easter weekend rates starting at $79 per room per night.
