THE HOTEL ROANOKE & CONFERENCE CENTER TO HOST EASTER BONNET CONTEST AND BUFFET
ROANOKE, Va. (March 14, 2007) - The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, a Doubletree hotel, is the place to be this Easter, with a bonnet design competition and a scrumptious buffet.
To get into the spirit of the spring, the area's leading professional designers are competing for top prizes at the annual "Easter Bonnets on Parade Promenade" contest from March 21-April 10.
Designers will use non-perishable items to create extraordinary Easter bonnets that will be on display along the Hokie Wall, located outside the Regency Floral Gift Shop. Votes for favorite entries will be accepted in the gift shop. Winners will be announced before Easter.
The following businesses are strutting their stuff to create one-of-a-kind bonnets: The Red Hat Society, Perrywinkle Toys, McMillan and Wife Photography and Flowers, Petal Pushers, The Gift Niche, Dr. Kartez and Associates Optometry, Buy the Season, Grand Home Furnishings-Tanglewood, Florabella, Creative Occasions and Wood Haven Nursing Home.
The winning bonnet will be on display at the main centerpiece in the Crystal Ballroom for the Grand Easter Buffet on Sunday, April 8.
The sumptuous buffet, offered in both the ballroom and the Regency Room, will feature entrees such as prime rib, buttered sole with shrimp and garlic stuffing, and baked glazed Virginia ham with a raisin sherry sauce. Soups, salads, side dishes and desserts also are included.
Reservations are required and available by calling (540) 853-8280. The cost: $34.95 for adults, $15.50 for children 12 and under, and children 3 years and younger are free.
