The Regency Room Offers Opportunity to Experience Virginia Wines
ROANOKE, Va. - (February 18, 2008) - Virginia wines are rapidly growing in quality, reputation and appreciation across the United States and the world. Now, The Regency Room at The Hotel Roanoke is offering the perfect way to enjoy these wines through its "Wine and Dine" wine-tasting series.
Throughout the year, The Regency Room will be teaming up with Virginia wineries to offer an exceptional wine-tasting series featuring Virginia vineyards and wineries paired elegantly with a custom menu developed by Chef Billie Raper and Chef Jud Flynn.
The first offering in the "Wine and Dine" series will feature the Roanoke Valley's AmRhein's Wine Cellars on Friday March 7th from 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.
"This is an exciting way for Virginia wineries to showcase their offerings and to educate the public about their wines and how they can be paired to create extraordinary meals," said Chef Raper. "We want to offer something more than your traditional wine tasting. Our series will feature the finest wines from Virginia wineries and a tailored menu to bring out the richness and flavor of not just these exquisite wines but also the food."
The "Wine and Dine" series is open to the public and will be held at least every two months in The Regency Room. Events will be held on Friday nights and feature live entertainment and a five-course meal prepared specifically for the wines being featured. Guests will also be able to purchase the wines from the wineries.
"There are more than 100 wineries in Virginia, and many of them are located right here in our backyard, currently Virginia is fifth in the nation as a wine destination," said Chef Raper. "This is an exciting way to experience the good fortunes that exist in our region."
